I live in upstate NY where the town I grew up in isn't even on the official state map, where the weather is cold and... well... you get the point.
Unless I was lucky (a warm sunny day or a fresh blanket of snow had fallen), there wasn't much to do after school and chores were completed. So as a young boy I'd play Batman or Spiderman.
If not that, then maybe we'd watch a movie when it was a cold rainy day. Or turn the TV to watch a football game on a Sunday afternoon when we didn't feel doing anything after church. Very often I would take a walk regardless of the weather so I could listen to my music.
Ever since a young age I've dreamed of stepping in front of the camera (and behind it). It sounded cool to write comics. The idea of being a football player was awesome. Singing and recording music was always present. But as I've grown older I've learned I enjoy writing and studying others doing those things just as much as I enjoy actually doing them. Facts like who won an Oscar in what year, what character did what in which comic story, what singer got which number one hit, and what player holds what NFL record seems to stick to my brain like the snap of a finger. And as I prepared to go to school for English and Communication, I thought to myself "why not work on my English and grammar while writing about things I have a passion for?" Two birds with one stone. What's not to like?
So, instead of limiting myself to one topic, let's just say my blog is about pop culture overall. No politics, agendas or anything like that. Just fun posts about the movies, comics, sports (well football mostly), players, and songs that have run rampant for the past century.
Last but certainly not least, be sure to check out my signature title piece: The Max 12 - a page full of top twelves lists, so always be on the look for those (I do love my rankings).
I am currently enrolled in school (writing and communication degrees) for now and hopefully until 2022 - give or take - so during the semesters the bulk of the content is likely to diminish, but I hope to be publishing at a frenetic pace during summer and winter breaks.
This is a hobby really but I also hope to grow in my skills as a writer, so come along on the ride that is my blog and enjoy your very own Merrick Sinclair experience.
